Catching Up. With bat_wayne.

It had been awhile since her last trip to Gotham. It wasn't that she was intentionally staying away, but when she was on tour with her magic show, she usually kept pretty busy. Thankfully her tour would be coming to a close in a few short weeks, and she was looking forward to the break--even if it only meant getting an hour more of sleep at night.

She had been a little surprised to hear from Bruce, but it had been a good surprise. She hadn't been keeping up with the news from home as much as she usually did, and a pang of guilt tugged at her. She'd always made a point of keeping atop the news of what was happening in Gotham, but she'd been so occupied with her shows, and with the Royal Flush Gang causing problems that she hadn't even picked up a newspaper in over a week.

Holding her breath as she teleported herself to the front door of the freshly rebuilt Wayne Manor, Zatanna reached out and rang the doorbell, waiting.

The manor look, as Bruce planned for it to be, built brick for brick the way he had been before it burnt down. It took a few years to get everything set, rebuilt perfect, but in the end it paid off. The pristine smell of new paint and wood were adamant even before the butler opened the door for Zatanna.

"Good evening Miss Zatara," the polite elderly gentleman greeted. Alfred opened the door for her, gesturing her into the pristine household.

It looked nearly the same, with a few upgrades here and there, but mostly the same nostalgic feeling could be sensed through out. Alfred lead her down a path of hallways, almost like a maze, but the man seemed to know his way around like it had never been burnt down at all. Finally, he pushed open the office doors and stepped out of the way for the magician to enter.

"Miss Zatara to see you, sir," Alfred announced, nodding toward the seemingly rested billionaire before taking his leave.

"Thank you, Alfred." Bruce stood, donned in casual attire of a sweater and a jeans, rising up to greet Zatanna properly. "How've you been?"

Zatanna greeted Alfred with a warm smile, and followed him through the maze of corridors without hesitation. It was the first time she'd been at Wayne Manor since it had been rebuilt and though logically she knew she shouldn't be surprised at how similar it was to the old one, she couldn't help but marveling at its likeness.

Dressed in a pair of slacks and a red blouse, she thanked Alfred, as well before turning to look at Bruce, soft smile on her face. "I've been good. How about you?"

A little less formal now, Bruce reached to hug Zatanna, like old friends really should.

"Well enough. Quiet in Gotham for the most parts these days. Relishing in it while I can."

More like, being bored out of his skull, but the whole point of Batman was to bring serenity and peace to the hazardous city, so he can't really complain.

She hugged him back without hesitation, relaxing a little.

When she pulled away to look at him, she arched her eyebrows. "Really? You're enjoying the quiet?"

He shrugged, pulling back with a sigh.

"It's what I've always striven for, isn't it? The peace and quiet. It makes me antsy though."

She studied him for a moment, nodding a little. "It is, but I can understand why you're antsy." Because they both knew things tended to get calm right before something big happened. And the last big thing that had happened in Gotham was the Joker--something she had missed out on personally, but had heard plenty about after it was all said and done.

"How are you doing?" Her voice grew a little more quiet, concerned.
